Cost of Living Payments
The council is not responsible for implementing these plans and the council is not responsible for making the payment.
Millions of the lowest-income households across the UK will get up to £1,350 from the government in 2023 and 2024 to help with the cost of living.
Exact payment windows will be announced closer to the time but are spread across a longer period to ensure a consistent support offering throughout the year. They will be broadly as follows for those on low income benefit or tax credits:
- £301 – first Cost of Living Payment during spring 2023 – already paid
- £150 – disability Cost of Living Payment during summer 2023 – already paid
- £300 – second Cost of Living Payment 31 October to 19 November 2023
- £300 – pensioners entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment Cost of Living Payment during winter 2023 to 2024
- £299 – third Cost of Living Payment during spring 2024
No need to apply
You will not be required to apply for these, they will be paid alongside your benefit payment/tax credit.
Cost of Living Support Scheme (Discretionary)
Applications can still be made by people in crisis directly attributable to the cost of living crisis through Anglesey Citizens Advice.

Cold Weather Payment
You may get Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting certain benefits or support for mortgage interest. You’ll get a payment if the average temperature drops to 0 degrees Celsius or below for 7 days in a row. The scheme for 2023 to 2024 will open November 2023.
Most people are paid automatically if they qualify.
If you are pregnant or have a child under 4 years old
You could be eligible for a Healthy Start Card if you are on qualifying benefits. With a Healthy Start Card you can buy fresh, frozen or tinned fruit and vege- tables, plain cows milk, fresh dried or tinned pulses, or infant formula based on cow’s milk suitable from birth, and access free vitamins.

They can check if you are eligible and help you complete the online form.
If you are eligible a card will be posted out to you. It can be used in most shops in the UK and funds will be added to your card every 4 weeks.
