Families across all of Anglesey can now apply for funded childcare for two-year-olds, as the Welsh Government accelerates delivery of the most generous childcare offer anywhere in the UK.
From 7 September 2026, all parents and carers of children aged two in Anglesey will be able to apply for 12.5 hours of Welsh Government-funded childcare per week, regardless of where they live in the local authority.
Under the new universal offer, the funded hours will be available to be accessed from 2 November 2026 onwards, with providers approved by Isle of Anglesey County Council.

Anglesey is the latest local authority to expand Welsh Government-funded childcare to all two-year-olds in their area - a significant milestone in the phased rollout being delivered through local authorities across Wales. The expansion will also support childcare providers across Anglesey helping to manage rising demand and strengthen the long-term sustainability of the sector.
Deputy First Minister for Wales, Sioned Williams, said, "This investment shows we are accelerating our commitments to the families of Wales. This is a significant step forward for families across the island and supports the vision set out in the Council Plan 2023 to 2028 of creating an Anglesey that is healthy and prosperous, where people can thrive.
By investing in our youngest residents, we are helping to ensure that children have access to high-quality early years experiences that support their development, wellbeing and future learning. The offer will also provide support to parents and carers, helping more families to remove childcare as a barrier to work or training.
