Notice of election: Election of the Police and Crime Commissioner for the North Wales Police Area - 2 May 2024

The Police and Crime Commissioner election will be held on 2 May 2024.
  1. An election is to be held for a Police and Crime Commissioner for the North Wales Police Area.

  2. Nomination Papers must be delivered by prior appointment to the Police Area Returning Officer at The Guildhall, Wrexham LL11 1AY, between the hours of 10am and 4pm on any working day (Monday to Friday) after the date of this notice but not later than 4pm on Friday, 5 April 2024.

  3. Nomination papers may be obtained at the place and times mentioned above. The Police Area Returning Officer will, at the request of any elector, prepare for signature a nomination paper.

  4. The deposit for each candidate of five thousand pounds (£5,000.00) can be deposited with the Police Area Returning Officer by 4pm on Friday, 5 April 2024, by direct bank transfer, banker’s draft (banks operating in the UK only) or by cash (British pounds only).

  5. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 2 May 2024. 

  6. Applications to be added to the Register of Electors in order to vote at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Office below on Tuesday, 16 April 2024. Applications to register to vote can be made online.

  7. Electors and their proxies should take note that all applications, amendments or cancellations for new and existing postal votes must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Office below by 5pm on Wednesday, 17 April 2024. This includes electors or their proxies who wish to make alterations to their existing arrangements on a permanent basis.

  8. Applications to appoint a proxy must reach the relevant Electoral Registration Office below by 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.

  9. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online.

  10. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work / service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5pm on Thursday, 2 May 2024. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. To apply on the grounds of work / service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024
