Course Outline

To have discussion regarding individual care & experiences and look at challenges and self-awareness of blindness, deafness and deafblindness. Share experiences and challenges that you may face and how to overcome them.

Aims of the Course

An overview of what is sensory loss.

Blindness
Look at statistics, causes and eye disease.
Caring for people with sight loss including dementia etc.

Deafness
Overview of deafness, looking at facts, types of hearing loss & causes and how it affects people.
Look at Hearing aids, Inner ear problems, Tinnitus & Eustachian Tube Disorder.
Share communication skills to work with hearing impaired people.

Deafblindness
Overview of deafblindess, looking at facts and causes. Looking at caring for people with Deafblindness and what we take for granted in our senses. Sharing communication skills and self awareness.
