Feeder schools
Some primary schools may have an established and ongoing relationship with a particular secondary school where the majority of the year 6 cohort from the primary school transfer to that particular secondary school.
These schools are called 'feeder schools'.
Feeder schools should have a plan in place to support children in year 6 to year 7 for when they move to secondary school.
Check with your child’s school about their feeder school status. Information may be included in the secondary school’s prospectus.
Feeder schools do not:
- affect current admission criteria for secondary schools
- determine the catchment area of a particular secondary school
