The Flood and Water Management Act 2010 requires the Welsh Government to develop, maintain, apply and monitor a National Strategy for flood and coastal erosion risk management in Wales.
The National Strategy sets four overarching objectives for the management of flood and coastal erosion risk in Wales, which are as follows:
- Reducing the consequences for individuals, communities, businesses and the environment from flooding and coastal erosion;
- Raising awareness of and engaging people in the response to flood and coastal erosion risk;
- Providing an effective and sustained response to flood and coastal erosion events; and
- Prioritising investment in the most at risk communities.
With this in mind the following works and investigations are currently underway:-
Beaumaris
Major flood alleviation scheme - The scheme will provide essential protection to homes and businesses previously devastated in the seaside town during heavy rainfall.
