Isle of Anglesey County Council will investigate food complaints regarding food purchased within the county.
What we investigate
We will only investigate complaints that pose a health risk.
When to contact shop or supplier
If your complaint is about food that has passed its 'best before' date or you have found things in the food that should not be in it, then contact the shop, maker or supplier where the goods were purchased.
Before you make a complaint
In many cases, your complaint can be resolved by discussing the issue with the shop, the food business and so on.
Overall, it is a concern for the businesses that you have found a problem and they will do their best to resolve the issue. We recommend that you should do this as a first step, especially if the food has passed its 'best before' date or if you find strange things in the food.
Complaints about food premises
If you have any concerns about a food business, you can report them. For example, you may have seen poor food hygiene practices. You may also have noticed poor standards of cleanliness.
You might believe that a business is displaying an incorrect food hygiene rating sticker. It may even have no sticker at all. In these cases, you can report them.
In addition, you should report any complaints about food that does not meet labelling requirements. This also includes food that is misleading or contaminated.
Making a food complaint
We are in the process of developing an online form for food complaints.
In the meantime, please use the contact information on this page.
