Isle of Anglesey County Council

Learning and Development Plan 2026 to 2027

How we do what we do

Our workforce and how we support their professional roles

The authority’s Learning and Development Team supports training and development opportunities for both the corporate (council) sector as well as the social care sector which includes partnership groups.

As part of the role to support the social care sector the team administers the Social Care Wales Development Partnership (SCWDP) Grant in order to provide Training and Development opportunities for the authority’s social care workforce as well as the wider social care partnership within Anglesey.

Membership of the SCWDP Partnership consists of the local authority, independent and voluntary sector, social care providers (domiciliary and residential), and partners who collaborate to support the sector develop a workforce which is appropriately skilled and qualified to meet the requirements of Social Care Wales. Training is also offered to unpaid carers (relatives or friends caring for people at home) and personal assistants (direct payment sector).

Key supported priority areas are as noted within the Social Care Wales annual circular.

During the year it may be necessary to amend the plan as a result of changes to legislation, policies or service priorities, therefore from time to time we will be issuing new and additional information relating to courses other than those noted in this brochure.

As a team, we are eager to hear from you about any additional training and development needs you may have/comments about the provision and would therefore welcome the opportunity to discuss these with you.
