Overview
The North Anglesey Sites and Premises Project include the development of Amlwch business units and refurbishment of the Marine Terminal Building at a total cost of £10.4m. Together this will deliver 2,300m² (approximately 25,000ft²) of modern business floorspace, creating 60 direct (gross) full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs and 50 (gross) indirect full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs.
Anglesey based contractors OBR have been appointed to deliver the schemes through the North Wales Construction Partnership. Work commenced summer 2026 and is anticipated to be completed by early 2028.
Unedau Afon Goch (trade units in Amlwch)
Utilising Ambition North Wales Growth Deal funding, a Welsh Government Joint Venture, Nuclear Decommissioning Agency funding and Anglesey County Council funding, we will construct 10 new units in Amlwch Industrial Estate generating approximately 1,300m² (14,000ft²) of business floorspace.
The creation of new industrial units will provide modern, flexible space for local businesses to grow and thrive.
Marine terminal
The marine terminal building was opened by the Shell Oil Company in 1976 to house the staff and equipment needed to service the offshore mooring buoy which was part of a 79-mile-long pipeline that took crude oil from tankers moored off the Amlwch coast to Stanlow oil refinery in Cheshire. It was vacated by Shell in 1990 when the pipeline became redundant.
The distinctive building is in a prominent position overlooking Porth Amlwch but is no longer fit for purpose. We are undertaking an ambitious refurbishment of the building to create 540m² (5,800ft²) of high quality, modern, low carbon office and commercial floorspace, with a total footprint of approximately 1000m² (10,800ft²) including ancillary facilities.
