Talk Money Week (held November 9-13th) aims to reduce the stigma around money by encouraging conversations among families, friends, neighbours, colleagues and communities.
Isle of Anglesey County Council is encouraging residents to ask for help if they are worried or experiencing financial hardship.
Talking openly about money can have a huge impact on managing money worries, and is important for our overall health and relationships. The impact of Covid-19 has made it more important than ever to start conversations about money to look after our financial wellbeing.
There are a range of different support channels available to the Anglesey residents:
- The County Council’s J.E. O’Toole Centre, in Holyhead, is able to provide free and confidential advice on all state benefits and pensions, Universal Credit, Discretionary Payments and Tax Credits. The team can provide advice services - including benefit checks, appeals and claim form filling by telephone. Phone: 01407 760208 to discuss.
- Financial Inclusion Officers based within Housing Services can help access information about utility bills and financial assistance that may be available for water, gas and electric. The team can provide budgeting advice following changes to a household’s income, and are able to offer advice on accessing bank accounts, and discuss housing options such as downsizing to more affordable accommodation. They can also access money and debt advice; and help people develop their financial confidence and capabilities. Phone: 01248 752200 (Mon-Fri), E-mail: financialinclusion@anglesey.gov.wales
- Citizens Advice Ynys Môn is able to offer advice, support and help with employment, debt, housing, welfare benefits, energy or any other issue. Citizens Advice are operating all services through email, phone or virtual meetings. Phone: 0300 3301 1921 (Mon to Fri), E-mail: AngleseyCA@gmail.com
