Isle of Anglesey County Council

Secure your green waste collection by subscribing now

Anglesey residents are being urged to subscribe for the 2022/23 green waste collection service online before 17 March 2022.

Last year, more than 15,000 homes across the Island signed up to the County Council’s new subscription service. The high demand and number of late subscriptions at the end of March and beginning of April resulted in delays in registration packs and green bin stickers reaching some homes.

As of today (1 March) over 8,000 have already signed up to the subscription service. The County Council is expecting a further 8,000 homes to register before the 2022/23 service begins.

Therefore to avoid delays and to guarantee their pack and sticker arrive in time (before 1 April), residents are being encouraged to register online: www.anglesey.gov.wales/green-garden-waste before 17 March 2022.

Residents who register after 17 March may experience delays in registration packs/stickers reaching their homes. This could also result in the delay of their green waste subscription becoming active and green bin being emptied.

Chief Waste Management Officer, Meirion Edwards, explained, “The green waste subscription uptake has been good and we are grateful to residents for subscribing early and for their continued recycling efforts.”

He added, “We encourage Anglesey residents who want to use the green waste collection service in 2022/23 to register as soon as possible.”

Collecting green garden waste will help Anglesey reach the Welsh Government target of recycling 70% of its waste by 2025.

Those who don’t want to pay the fee can still take their green waste to either of the Island’s household waste recycling centres in Penhesgyn or Gwalchmai free of charge or continue composting their own green waste.
