Isle of Anglesey County Council

New independent members on the Standards Committee

New independent members have recently been appointed to the Anglesey County Council’s Standards Committee, which is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct amongst Councillors in Anglesey, and assisting them to follow the Code of Conduct for Members.

Trefor Owen was appointed in October 2023 and Brace Griffiths was appointed in January 2024.

The appointments have been made following a recruitment process conducted by the Standards Committee - Selection Panel , whose membership includes three County Council elected members, a representative from the town and community councils and an independent member of the public.

Trefor Owen and Brace Griffiths are joining John Robert Jones (Chair), Rhys Davies (Vice Chair) and Gill Murgatroyd as independent members on the Standards Committee. There are also two members of the County Council (Councillors Margaret Murley Roberts and Dafydd Rhys Thomas) and two town and community council representatives (Councillors Iorwerth Roberts and Margaret Thomas) on the Standards Committee.

More information regarding the Selection Panel is available here and the Standards Committee is available here.
