A new and updated Anglesey Dementia Directory has been published by the county council’s leisure service.
Dementia Actif Môn has published a revised version of the original document after discussions and feedback from people living with the condition and their carers. The county council’s social services and third sector organisations have provided information about support and activities on offer.
There will be both digital and paper copies of the new directory available, as well as an interactive map.
The directory includes information about:
- support available for those people living with dementia and their carers and family
- activities available, including physical activities
- support from a local group, community hub/centre
- support for the carers
- respite care
Dementia Actif Môn Officer, Eban Geal, explained, “We are delighted to be able to provide Anglesey residents with this newly updated directory. Here at the Dementia Actif Môn service, we offer activities to people of all ages and abilities, including carers. This directory was able to highlight what we offer here at Dementia Actif Môn.”
He added, “The aim of this directory is to enable support for those people living with dementia, their carers and family members. As it is a difficult time where people are being diagnosed with dementia, it is vitally important that the families have access to the right support and access to services and information.”
Adults' Services and Community Safety portfolio holder, Councillor Alun Roberts, said “Isle of Anglesey County Council is committed to creating a dementia-friendly Anglesey, where there are no barriers to those people living with dementia, their carers and families.”
“The Dementia Directory will helps us by raising awareness about the information and support available out in the community, be it through the county council or our partners.”
