As we continue to follow national guidance about staying at home and essential travel, many of us will be concerned about maintaining our fitness over the coming weeks.
Many people may have had to reduce their fitness work outs as we’re currently unable to do the things we’ve become accustomed to. However, help is at hand from Anglesey’s Leisure Service, Môn Actif, as staff provide activities and information about staying healthy at home.
Here are some tips from Môn Actif to stay fit and healthy during this period.
1. A workout from home:
Staff at Môn Actif have been working hard to create fitness workouts and challenges that you can do from your own living room, bedroom or even garden!
With 3-4 videos being shared weekly on our Facebook page you can get back on the fitness trail by joining in. Make sure you let us know how you get on.
You can find us on our Facebook and you can also find our videos on our YouTube channel.
2. Healthy Food
Now we’re spending more time at home, it’s a good opportunity to have fun and get creative with our cooking.

3. Get active with your friends and family
If you’re going to give our home workout videos a try, why not invite friends and family to get active with you at the same time with a virtual class!
There are a number of apps that you can use to get connected with your friends and family including: Facetime, Zoom, Skype and Houseparty!
4. Take short fitness breaks
If you don’t want to commit to full on exercise classes, challenges and workouts it’s important that you try to keep as active as possible.
If you’re working on your computer or sitting watching television why not take short fitness breaks? Here are some ideas:
- Walk up and down stairs each time there is an advert break on the television
- Stand up and sit back down 10 times every 30 minutes if you are sitting on the sofa or on your desk
- Place your workstation on the kitchen worktop or window sill so that you are standing whilst working
- Aim to get 10,000 walking steps per day.
5. Do the daily house chores
Cleaning, dusting, hoovering and putting the clothes out on the line can get you moving. Don’t put those daily chores on hold, use them as motivation to get active!
Put the radio on or play some energetic music on and tackle those chores.
