Anglesey residents can now subscribe online for the 2022/23 green waste collection service.
Last year, more than 15,000 homes across the Island signed up to the County Council’s new subscription service. High demand and number of late subscriptions meant delays in registration packs and green bin sticker reaching some homes.
To avoid this happening again, residents are encouraged to register early online: www.anglesey.gov.uk/green-garden-waste before 28 February 2022. Improvements have been made to the online signing up process, after public feedback, making it easier to subscribe.
Early registration will help ensure that they receive their registration packs in good time before the next 12-month subscription period begins in April 2022.
The annual £35 fee entitles households to 26 collections of their 240 litre green bin for grass and other garden waste. Introducing the fee, last year, brought Anglesey in line with every other local authority in North Wales.
Head of Highways, Property and Waste Management, Huw Percy, explained, “The green waste subscription uptake has been good and we are grateful to residents for their continued support for our recycling efforts.”
“We are once again encouraging Anglesey residents who want to use the green waste collection service to register as soon as possible.”
He added, "We look forward to continuing to work with you to improve recycling rates and play our part to reduce our carbon footprint, and look after our Island for the future generations to come."
Collecting green garden waste will help Anglesey reach the Welsh Government target of recycling 70% of its waste by 2025.
Those who don’t want to pay the fee can still take their green waste to either of the Island’s household waste recycling centres in Penhesgyn or Gwalchmai free of charge or continue composting their own green waste.
