Isle of Anglesey County Council has thanked Stena Line crew and staff on both sides of the Irish Sea after generous donations to local children.
Foster Wales Anglesey have received hundreds of toys and gifts that will be given to children looked-after this Christmas.
The gifts were generously donated as part of the Stena Santa Line Campaign 2023. Stena Line staff from right across Ship and Shore on Irish Sea South took part with staff from: Stena Estrid, Stena Adventurer, Dublin port, Holyhead port, Holyhead Call Centre, Travel Centre Holyhead, R&F Holyhead and Stena House all involved in the donations.
This follows last year’s successful Stena Santa Line Campaign, which saw more than £2,000 worth of goodies being donated to children in foster care on Anglesey.
Children and Families’ Service portfolio holder, Councillor Gary Pritchard, said, “We would like to thank everyone at Stena Line for their kindness and generosity. With the increasing challenges faced by many due to the cost of living crisis, projects like this help ensure Christmas remains a magical time of year for children. I’d like to thank Mark Daly, Bianca Patterson, Sarah England and Sian Brown from Stena Line for coordinating yet another successful campaign again this year.
“The generosity of Stena Line staff will mean that many vulnerable Anglesey children and young people will receive more gifts this Christmas, helping to spread some extra festive cheer.”
Mark Daly, Onboard Sails and Services Steward - Stena Estrid, said, “Our Stena Line crew across our Dublin to Holyhead route were delighted to help make Christmas a special time for children in the local area and put a smile on their face. We’d like to thank our colleagues for their generosity and hopefully next year we can make the campaign even bigger and better.”
Fôn Roberts, Director of Social Services, said on behalf of Foster Wales Anglesey, “I would like to sincerely thank Stena for their fantastic gesture of goodwill again this Christmas. The gifts will make a huge difference to Anglesey children who will be spending Christmas with foster carers this year. Thank you for your incredible generosity and support!”
