Children’s Sports Camp – more dates added!

Anglesey’s Môn Actif team will be holding extra Sports Camps this summer due to their popularity.

More than 230 children aged between 5 and 11 years old enjoyed a day of sports and fun-filled activities at their local leisure centre last week.

Due to the huge popularity and success of the Sports Camps - more dates have now been added!

The all-day sessions cost just £10, and they include structured sports activities including; football, netball, rugby, athletics, and swimming – there really is something to keep everyone entertained.

Each child will also receive a nutritional breakfast, kindly donated by Aldi Llangefni and Waitrose Menai Bridge.

Leisure Portfolio Holder, Councillor Carwyn Jones, said,

“In a time where so many children want to stay indoors on their computers and video games, this is a great initiative by the County Council’s Môn Actif team to get children out of the house, and engaging in physical activity”

Community Sport Development Officer Barry Edwards, who delivers the sports camps, commented:

“The sport camps not only introduce and develop children’s skills in sport - but the children are also educated on the importance of healthy eating. That’s why we have introduced the healthy breakfast into the scheme.

He added, “Over 230 children attended the camps last week. We expect just as many - if not more - to attend the next sessions which are at the end of the month. Therefore I urge parents to book well in advance to avoid any disappointment.”
