Rhys will work closely alongside chief executive, Dylan J Williams, and his new duties will focus on a number key work streams.
As deputy chief executive, he will lead the County Council’s efforts to become carbon neutral by 2030, deliver robust forward and strategic planning through the new Council Plan 2022-27, and drive forward continuous improvement across the organisation.
Effective and proactive collaboration with government organisations, public, private and community partners will also be a priority.
Rhys, who is currently the authority’s Director of Education, Skills and Young People, will take up his new post shortly.
Following his appointment, Rhys said, “I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with all stakeholders within my current role, I feel we have moved forward as one. It is an honour today to be appointed to the role of Anglesey’s deputy chief executive. I look forward to working closely with the chief executive, colleagues, elected members and all partners. There are many important challenges and opportunities ahead and I will continue to do my utmost for the people and communities of Ynys Môn.”
