Isle of Anglesey County Council

2023/24 green waste subscription now open

Anglesey residents can now subscribe online for the 2023/24 green waste collection service.

More than 15,000 homes across the Island have signed up to the 2022/2023 subscription service.

To guarantee the green waste collection pack and sticker arrives in time (before 1 April), residents are being encouraged to register online before 28th February, 2023.

The annual £35 fee entitles households to 26 collections of their 240 litre green bin for grass and other garden waste. Every local authority in North Wales charges a fee for this service.

Head of Highways, Property and Waste Management, Huw Percy, explained, “The annual green waste subscription uptake in 2022/23 has been good and we are grateful to residents for their continued support for our recycling efforts.”

“We are once again encouraging Anglesey residents who want to use the green waste collection service to register as soon as possible.”

Collecting green garden waste will help Anglesey reach the Welsh Government target of recycling 70% of its waste by 2025.

Anglesey’s Highways, Waste and Property Portfolio Holder, Councillor Dafydd Rhys Thomas, added, “We look forward to continuing to work with Anglesey residents to improve our recycling rates.

“Recycling plays a crucial role when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint, and look after our Island for the future generations to come."

Those who don’t want to pay the fee can still take their green waste to either of the Island’s household waste recycling centres in Penhesgyn or Gwalchmai free of charge or continue composting their own green waste.
