It is the duty of every education authority to set up a standing advisory council on religious education (SACRE), in accordance with the requirements of the 1996 Education Act. This body advises on worship in schools and the religious education.
The SACRE was established in 1989 and copies of the annual reports are available from the Education Department and libraries.
