The Blue Badge scheme helps you park closer to your destination if you are disabled.
You can apply for a Blue Badge yourself, or a relative can apply on your behalf.
You do not have to drive to apply for a Blue Badge. The badge can be used in any car the Blue Badge holder is travelling in, as a driver or a passenger.
You need to make a new application for a Blue Badge every 3 years.
Identity and proof
To process your application, we must have:
- a recent digital photo showing your head and shoulders
- proof of identity (such as a birth certificate, passport or driving licence)
- proof of address (such as a Council Tax bill or government letter)
- proof of benefits (if you get any)
- your National Insurance number (if you have one)
- the details of your current Blue Badge (if you are reapplying)
We cannot process your application without these.
You can take a photograph of your documents on your smartphone or tablet and upload them within the online application.
In Wales, an individual can apply for a Blue Badge through one of three categories:
- Temporary (substantial disability which is likely to last for the next 12 months)
Welsh Government have produced guidance explaining when you are eligible for a Blue Badge (this link will open a new tab).
If required, you can send supporting documents:
If you need to speak to someone, telephone 01248 750 057 (option 9).
We are aware of organisations offering to help you with completing and submitting Blue Badge applications. These organisations are charging substantial fees for their help.
Anglesey residents do not need to use these organisations to apply for a Blue Badge.
We advise you to use the free Blue Badge service provided by Isle of Anglesey County Council.
Use the free online application service on this page, telephone an officer 01248 750 057 (option 9) or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to help.
There is a charge of £10 for a replacement badge and only one replacement can be issued in any 3 year period.
An organisation which cares for disabled people can apply too. There will be a £10 charge for badges for organisations.
