What the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol is
A protocol is a set of rules we follow in a situation. We have a protocol for helping people sleeping rough in severe weather. This protocol is an emergency response which has been agreed locally. We look to help people by finding emergency accommodation.
How to get help during severe weather
The Housing Assessment Team is part of Housing Services in the council. When the Severe Weather Protocol is active, they contact other organisations and they will post information on social media to say how long the protocol will last.

Why the protocol is not in place all year
The protocol is an emergency temporary measure to offer and provide anyone who is sleeping rough safe accommodation during severe weather conditions.
Help is available all year to anyone who is homeless.
Please contact us if you are currently homeless /sleeping rough or are concerned about someone else.
