Isle of Anglesey County Council is currently carrying out a review of certain Council Tax discounts and premiums to make sure that our records are accurate and up to date.
What we are reviewing
Isle of Anglesey County Council has appointed Infoshare (Datatank), a specialist data analytics company, to assist with reviewing:
- Single Person Discount (SPD) – a 25% reduction for households with only one adult resident
- Council Tax premiums – additional charges applied to long-term empty properties and second homes
This review involves securely comparing Council Tax records with external data sources to identify any inconsistencies or changes in circumstances.
People who are getting a Council Tax discount will continue to get the discount if they are still entitled to it.
Why we are doing this
It is important that Council Tax is charged correctly and fairly.
This review helps to make sure that:
- discounts are applied correctly
- premiums are charged appropriately
- public funds are protected

More about the single person discount (SPD) review
People who are getting a single person discount will continue to get the discount if they are still entitled to it.
Why you have had a review letter
You have received a review letter because you are currently claiming a single person Council Tax discount as the only adult living at your address.
We have a duty to make sure that you still qualify for this discount.
Your circumstances may have changed. For example:
- another adult has moved into your home
- a child has turned 18
Other discounts might apply
You may no longer qualify for the single person discount because a child living in your home has turned 18 years old.
If the young person is:
- still at school
- has only just left full time education
- at college or university
then we may be able to apply a different discount to your account.
Take a look at our discounts and exemptions page.
If you do not complete the review
We will send you a reminder letter 3 weeks after the first letter, giving you a further 3 weeks to complete the review.
If you do not complete a review, we will assume that your circumstances have changed and will remove your discount and issue a new bill.
Update us if your circumstances change
You must tell us if your circumstances change and you are no longer entitled to a discount.
Fraudulent claims for discounts increase the costs for every Council Tax payer.
