Isle of Anglesey County Council

Public speaking at scrutiny committees

Protocol

Isle of Anglesey County Council has a protocol for public speaking at scrutiny committees.

Under this protocol, members of the public may apply to speak at meetings of a scrutiny committee where matters of interest to them are to be discussed.

You must do this as soon as possible and at least 3 clear working days before the date of the committee meeting.

Who can speak

One person is allowed to speak on behalf of each group or body where each group or body has something different to say in relation to an item being considered by a scrutiny committee.

Experts in a particular field, or people who hold a view that is not represented by a group or body, can also register their interest to speak at the meeting.

If you want to speak at committee meetings you should register your interest to do so as soon as possible by confirming your name and who you represent, if applicable.

Do not wait for the committee papers to be published

You should not wait for the committee papers to be published before registering to speak. This will avoid a situation where you miss the deadline to register and/or where other people have already registered to speak.

You are encouraged to review the Scrutiny Committee Forward Work Programme which identifies the matters to be discussed at future meetings.
