Isle of Anglesey County Council

Sale of timber arising from ash dieback works

Without prejudice andsubject to contract.

Isle of Anglesey County Council is inviting per tonne quotes for a single lot of timber harvested in 2024.

The timber is predominately ash but may contain minor amounts of other species of hardwood and softwood.

It has been harvested using a mix of grapple saw and tree shears and is in variable lengths and diameter as can be seen in images on this page.  It is stored at the council’s Penhesgyn Recycling Centre in Anglesey.

How the money will be used

The money arising from the sale will be used to fund tree planting and habitat management on council sites.

Buyer's responsibilities

The bids will be assessed through a combination of price/tonne, when and how the timber will be removed from site by the buyer.

The buyer will be responsible for:

  • the loading of all timber
  • the transport of timber in full compliance with the Timber Haulage Code of Practice
  • providing evidence that the means of transport will meet this code

All vehicles collecting the timber will be weighed on entry to the site and again following loading on the council's weighbridge. A docket will be issued with each load and a schedule prepared for the buyer at the end of each week or as otherwise agreed. Isle of Anglesey County Council will invoice the buyer on completion.

Following the signing of the contract it is expected that the timber will be removed off site within 10 weeks.
