When you will get a reply
We must acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, by law. This means that we must confirm that we have had your complaint.
We may need to contact you for more information before we respond to your complaint.
There is no law that says how long we have to give you an answer to your complaint. We are required to give you an answer within a reasonable timescale.
If the investigation into your complaint is going to take longer, we will keep you informed of our progress and try to give you a realistic date when we expect to complete our investigation. We will explain the reasons if there is likely to be a significant delay.
We will also give you details of how to contact us if you have any questions.
Data breach complaints
We will respond more quickly if your complaint is about a data breach which we were previously unaware of.
How we deal with your complaint
We will review all relevant evidence and information to understand what happened and why.
We will compare the information you give us with the information we hold, and check that we have upheld our own procedures, policies and standards.
We will then send you a response in writing to let you know:
- how we have investigated the complaint
- what we found
- what we think needs to be done to resolve the issue
We will provide information to help you understand how we reached our decision. We will also let you know what actions we have taken and about any improvements we intend to make, if that is necessary.
If you are still not satisfied
If you are still not satisfied with the time Isle of Anglesey County Council is taking to deal with your complaint, or with a response, you can contact the Information Commissioner.
