Assessment criteria

Isle of Anglesey County Council is committed to a fair, transparent, and inclusive selection process. No weighting will be applied on the basis of personal characteristics such as age, gender or background. Assessment will focus solely on the applicant’s ability to meet the following criteria.

Ability and commitment to pay a market rent: supported by evidence of sound financial planning during the term of the tenancy.

Demonstration of financial viability: including realistic budgets, cashflow forecasts, and evidence of access to working capital.

Potential to progress: showing how Fron Heulog will support business development, skills growth, and long‑term sustainability.

Ability to farm the holding well: evidence of machinery and equipment held, together with a clear plan for sufficient livestock levels, environmental stewardship, and responsible land management.

Commitment to living on site: using the farmhouse as the applicant’s main residence to support effective management of Fron Heulog and integration into the local community.

Shortlisting and interviews

A shortlist will be prepared based on the tender submissions. Those applicants who are shortlisted will be notified in writing and invited to attend an interview, which will be conducted during January 2027.

The council will also arrange to visit applicants’ current holdings or lands held, if applicable, although the exact dates of these visits will be confirmed with the shortlisted candidates.
